Living & Dining

Despite the living and dining room being light and spacious the decor was not right. When we brought the house the previous owner had removed a wall to open up the lounge and dining room into one large open space. After much deliberation and controversy we have decided to put the wall back.

We have knocked through both fire places and painted it in the brilliant white giving us a blank canvas to gradually return the features such as ceiling rose and coving.

The last few months have seen a few more changes to our living room as it slowly progresses. We have taken up the carpet to reveal the original wooden floorboards which are in quite good condition and the original tile hearth but some of the tiles are damaged and green is not my colour so they will go. We have had to chase an electric cable under the floor boards which weirdly has been left running across the hearth? As you can see this was not an easy task, a few splinters and one slightly broken floorboard later the wire has gone. We can now have a new hearth and fireplace put in.

Over the summer we hope to get the floor sanded which will then allow us to have cupboards built for storage either side of the fireplace and decorating can start.
